This precious brooch adds a touch of macabre is the most beautiful way - handcrafted using genuine, full grain leather, it features a gorgeous, life-like sparrow skull made of solid brass and plated in nickel free silver. Skull piece is sourced from an artisan in Istanbul, Turkey.
 
Two layers of thick, smooth grain leather make up the body of this brooch, with pebbled leather hand stitched for a multi-layered effect to frame the skull. Two butterfly clutch tacks are securely attached from between the layers of leather (because these are pushed through a thick layer of leather, these work best on medium weight fabrics - the butterfly tacks may not securely attach through very thick coats - pictured on an Autumn weight wool coat). 
 
The edges are sanded smooth and coated with glossy black edge kote for a crisp, clean look. 
 
This brooch is currently also available with gold plating as well - additionally, you'll find brooches featuring hummingbird skulls and alligator skulls in a variety of colors, as well as a variation with a bronze snake in the jewelry section of the shop!
